In 2024, I was accepted into a six-month National Civic Impact Fellowship & Incubator program facilitated by Asian American Women’s Political Initiative (AAWPI). During this program, each fellow within the cohort — across Massachusetts, Philadelphia, and Georgia — developed individual projects to engage and mobilize Asian American women within our local communities. Lucky Knot Arts, a collaborative community that centers AANHPIs through creative arts programming on the North Shore of Massachusetts, was the result of my fellowship project. Since Lucky Knot Arts’ inception in March 2024, we’ve engaged over 75 participants at workshops in Salem, Peabody, Lynn, Beverly, and Lowell; received grant funding from The Asian Community Fund at The Boston Foundation, Mass Cultural Council, and Lynn Cultural Council; paid / collaborated with / supported 39 Asian-owned businesses; hosted an AANHPI Mini Market and Lunar New Year Festival + Market, both free and open-to-the-public events that each garnered over 200 attendees; and raised over $2,400 through pay-what-you-can workshop registrations and other donations to help support future programming.
